Christmas Eve With the Reilly's

We drove up to Richmond yesterday to spend Christmas Eve with some cousins from my side of the family.

Micheal, Jeannie, Nick, & Aiden
Mills, Karen, Jamie, & Luke
Aunt Carmen

We got to Michael and Jeannie's early in the afternoon so that we could go to church together.  We were going to the "secret mass" at 3pm at St. Michael the Archangel in Glen Allen.  Last Sunday, this mass was announced at each service, but it was not published.  Obviously a lot of people told a lot of other people because when we got to the church at 2:30, the parking lot was totally full!  Police were telling people to park in the residential neighborhood across the street.  When we got inside the church, the sanctuary was full, the overflow room was full, and all of the seats that had been set up in the lobby were full.  We wound up standing in the sanctuary.  Jarrod and I both agreed that this was one of the best Christmas services we'd ever been to even though we had to stand.

Back at Michael and Jeannie's we got everything ready for dinner while the kids played.  Aiden is three months older than Trenton, and the two boys had a blast together!  Charlotte had fun crawling around and exploring everything.

I'm not sure how we all had room for dessert after the wonderful dinner we ate, but it was time for sweets, presents, and pictures!  We tried our best to get all of the kids together for a picture, getting everyone happy, still, and looking at the camera at the same time was no easy feat!

We also have a Christmas lesson that we learned the hard way and wanted to share with all of you...

...If you want a nice family photo for Christmas, don't wait until it's past your kids bedtimes to take it!
