Oh Snow Good!

I last measured the snowfall an hour ago, and at that time, we were up to 11 inches!  The snow isn't supposed to stop until tonight.  Jarrod has duty today, so he had to go into work this morning.  Hopefully he'll be able to make it home tomorrow.

Trenton and I took advantage of the snow this morning by making Snow Ice Cream at snack time!  I took Trenton out for a quick trip to scoop up some snow.  He wasn't too happy since it was already too deep for him to move!

I found this recipe at All Recipes and adjusted the recipe since I only needed two servings.  This was my first time eating snow ice cream, and it was great!  Trenton (Mr. Picky) liked it too!  He ate his topped with some of his baby sister's puff snacks.

Snow Ice Cream
8 servings
  • 1 gallon snow
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk
When it starts to snow, place a large, clean bowl outside to collect the flakes. When full, stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency. Serve at once.

I mixed my sugar, vanilla, and milk together first so that the sugar could totally dissolve before mixing it with the snow.

Aweee isnt that the sweetest. My kids got their first taste of snow ice cream last year. It was the first accumulated snowfall in 30 years. We got 13 inches in one day. So not Texas weather. But exciting.

I love snow cream! I usually just add a can of sweetened condensed milk to some snow, but this one is new to me. Gotta try it this way too! Thanks for sharing!

I'm from originally from Texas and definitely not used to this weather!

I was going to use the sweetened condensed milk recipe...until I realized I was out of sweetened condensed milk!
