This Week’s Projects

Trenton seems to have an aversion to getting his hands sticky, gooey, etc. – unless it’s food.  I’m trying to get him to overcome this, so I came up with a few fun ideas this past week.

Wednesday night was “Sticky Dance Night” at our house.  I cut a big piece of contact paper and taped it to the floor, sticky side up.  Trenton loves dancing, so I thought he might go for this idea.  Boy was I wrong.  I had to hold him and force him to put his feet on the sticky contact paper.  Charlotte on the other hand thought it was tons of fun!  I even tried drawing a road on the contact paper so that Trenton would drive his cars on it, but he wouldn’t come anywhere near it.

Trenton loves painting, but just not with his fingers.  He is a huge fan of peanut butter though, so I decided to let him finger paint with peanut butter after his nap Thursday afternoon.  He had a blast.  It was an art project and snack time all rolled into one!  I’m hoping that he’ll be a little more open to finger painting with actual finger paints now that we’ve done this little project.

Making mud pies outside is on my list of things to try with Trenton, but first it has to warm up here!  I’m open to more ideas for him to get over this aversion, so if you have any, let me know!

When my daughter was younger, she hated getting things on her fingers. She couldn't stand paint, glue, or food to get on her fingers. We would call her neat freak. But she seems to have lightened up as she got a little older.

Love the Sticky Dance Idea! How fun!

My E is kind of the same way about fingers. Maybe one day it will change!

The peanut butter painting is a great idea! I might have to try that one!
