Read With a Hero

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, our local library had a Read With a Hero program this morning.  Local firefighters and sheriff’s deputies read some of their favorite stories to the children.

After a couple of stories, one of the firefighters got dressed up in his gear.

Sparky the Firedog even stopped in to say hi!

After grabbing a couple of hot dogs being served up by some local cub scouts, we headed out to the parking lot to get a closer look at some emergency vehicles.

Both kids were excited about the chance to sit in the fire truck!

They were also very excited about getting to sit in the back seat of a police car – for the first and hopefully last time!

What a wonderful way for the kids to get to meet some of our local heroes!
