Trenton didn’t have preschool, and Charlotte didn’t have dance class today due to it being election day. The weather was gorgeous, and we took full advantage by heading outside this morning to make a mess with pumpkin goop (an idea I found here)!
I pulled one of our pumpkins off the front porch, cut the top off, and we headed out back with our pumpkin and some orange goop (cornstarch, water, red+yellow food coloring) I had mixed up.
I gave the kids some “tools” and let them go to town pulling out pulp and seeds. Trenton wasn’t very interested in pulling “pumpkin guts” but Charlotte was really into it.
I let Trenton add in some water and told him that the only way to mix it in was with his hands. He liked that because the water made the goop more watery and less sticky. I then poured some more cornstarch in the goop, and both kids mixed it in.
After that, it was mess-making time! And the bigger the mess, the bigger the fun!
Trenton is already asking when we can make pumpkin goop again!
*I washed the seeds off and dried them this afternoon. I’m going to try my hand at dyeing them tonight to use in a craft later this week. We’re definitely getting a lot of use out of our pumpkin!
