Hello, Lake Tahoe!

Jarrod finished up his first quarter of coursework at Naval Postgraduate School last week, and is currently on a two-week break.  We decided to take advantage of his time off and planned a little vacation to Lake Tahoe.

We left Monterey on Saturday morning, and after dropping Bailey off at the boarding facility, set our sights on South Lake Tahoe.

One stop for lunch, one stop for gas, and SIX roadside potty breaks later, we finally rolled in to our hotel.  The kids did great in the car, and for having one kid that was just two weeks potty trained, the drive was a big success.

Our room at Tahoe Beach & Ski Club totally exceeded my expectations.  Our room had a mini kitchen with a small refrigerator (somewhere between dorm size and full size), a sink, coffeemaker, all the dishes we needed, a microwave, and a bar with stools.  The kitchen looked into the living area that had a small dining table with chairs, a TV with a DVD player, and a fold out sofa.  This is where the kids slept.  There was also a bathroom with a large shower off of the main living area.  Jarrod and I had our own bedroom that had a sitting area and another TV with a DVD player.  Our bathroom had a jucuzzi tub that one kid loved and the other was scared of.  The rooms were all remodeled and were really nice.

After unpacking all of our things, we headed down the street for a quick bite to eat.  Then it was back to the resort to check out the beach.  Our hotel had their own private beach with a playground, charcoal grills, picnic tables, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and ping pong tables all next to the beach.

When we got down to the beach, we found a few unexpected visitors.

This was certainly the first time that I had ever seen geese on the beach!

The sand was much coarser than any ocean beaches that I’ve ever been too, but the beautiful blue lake and the mountains surrounding it more than made up for the coarse sand!

The kids had a blast running around, playing in the sand, and finding “treasures” to take back to the room.

By the end of the day, everyone was worn out and ready to get some sleep so that we could start our first full day in Lake Tahoe!
