A Tree Lighting and Our First Santa Visit

The city of Pacific Grove held their annual tree lighting last night, and the kids and I decided to go (Jarrod was busy preparing for a presentation that he had today).

Charlotte LOVED the beautiful “light trees” that were lining the main street that runs through the town.  So you can imagine her excitement when we counted down and the big tree was lit!

Trenton was more excited about the second part of our night.

After the tree was lit, everyone headed down the street to Chautauqua Hall meet Santa and eat cookies.  The kids ate their cookies while we waited in line, and soon we were ready to see Santa.  Charlotte still isn’t real fond of the man in red, but at least she let me sit next to him with her on my lap.

And she even talked to him!  What did she tell him that she wanted?  A giraffe.  No clue where she got this from, but she’s been saying it for a week and stuck with it again last night.  Trenton was easy – he wants a racecar.

I’m sure this won’t be our last encounter with Santa.  I’m hoping that by the end of the Christmas season, we can get Charlotte to sit in Santa’s lap.  Hopefully last year was the last of the screaming pictures.

She looks a little skeptical haha. I bet if you just keep talking about Santa and showing her pictures she'll be real comfortable by Christmas!
