Loving Vacation

Yesterday we drove south to spend the remainder of our vacation in San Diego.

We are staying at the Navy Lodge on Coronado Island.

And oh how I love this place!

Our friends, the Larrabee crew are here too.  After unpacking and relaxing most of the day yesterday, we met up with them down at the beach for a cookout.

The kids got to run out energy while the adults enjoyed the view and company.

A trip to Legoland was on the agenda for today.

And boy did we have a good time!

There were a couple of things that didn’t make the favorite list for the day though.

I took Trenton on a roller coaster soon after we got to the park while Jarrod took Charlotte on a smaller ride.  This coaster was the biggest Trenton had been on.  As we finished the first big drop, he yelled/cried to me, “Mommy, this ride is NO FUN going down!  I only like it going up!  No more going down rides today!”

Then after lunch we found the pirate ship ride that the kids had been eyeing on our ticket packet for a week.  So our whole family loaded into a pirate ship, and we each got to man a cannon that shot water.  There were people along the outside of the ride behind the fence with their own cannons aimed at us.  And they were pretty good shots.  Charlotte was not a fan.

“Maybe I not like this ride.  My hair got wet.”

Trenton loves being in charge of maps wherever we go.  And as soon as he got the Legoland map, he spotted a racecar track.  So when we got to that part of the park, we just had to give it a whirl.

Trenton just may have watched Cars and old school Speed Racer a few too many times.  The kid was in all out racer mode!  I even saw him cutting another driver off at one point!

Charlotte went in the round after Trenton.  She got her first driving lesson from Daddy.

It took Charlotte a little while to figure out how to drive her car on her own, but then she got going.

And was excited about it.

“Look at me!  I driving!”

And then she rear-ended another car.  But hey, she still was given her drivers license when her driving time was up!  That’s California driving for ya!

We told the kids that we could do one more ride before we had a call it a day.  This happened to be while we were walking by a roller coaster that was small enough for Charlotte to ride.  She was all for it!  Trenton and Daddy decided to take the slower paced jungle safari car ride while Charlotte and I went on the coaster.  And let me tell you, I think we have a thrill seeker in the family!  Charlotte rode the coaster with her hands in the air and a smile on her face.  And then wanted to do it again!

The kids definitely did not want our day at Legoland to come to an end.  They were trying to convince Daddy to bring them back again as were were walking to the car!

The beach was calling our name when we got back to the hotel.

I’m pretty sure these two are going to sleep good tonight!  And it’s a good thing since we’ve got another fun day planned for tomorrow!
