Transformation Tuesday

The kids and I watched an episode of Sid the Science Kid (a show on PBS that has really neat science themes - even if a few of the kids are a little odd and Teacher Susie has an on again/off again accent) after lunch today and learned all about reversible vs. irreversible transformation.

Sid and his family made juice popsicles, so of course my kids wanted to make popsicles to eat after dinner.

With this reversible transformation, our juice went from juice, to popsicle, and then back to juice as the popsicles melted.

We also did a little irreversible change experiment – making homemade bread (click here for the recipe we used).

The kids saw how all of the ingredients went into making the dough – including yeast.  Once all of the ingredients were mixed together, an irreversible transformation occurred.  We could not separate the ingredients back out again.

Boy, who knew science experiments could be so darn tasty?

You are such a good teacher-mom! Teach me your ways... ;)

Your house is like a tasty pre-school! Maybe this makes me a nerd but I can't wait until my kid is old enough to talk about science.

I would love science even more than I already do if I could eat all my experiments!

Em loves Sid! I keep saying I'm going to make Popsicles, maybe this time I actually will and use the science behind it for her!

That bread looks so yum!
