All of the stores may have their Christmas stuff out and be playing Christmas carols, but not in this house. I want my kids to know what Thanksgiving is about.
So, we’ve started a Thankful Tree.
November 1st rolled around, and I was outside cutting branches off of a tree behind the house, pulling all of the leave and moss off, and spraying the branches down with bug spray. I arranged all of our tree limbs, traced each of the kids hands to make leaves (Trenton gets orange and brown leaves and Charlotte gets red and yellow), and told the kids the plan.
Every night each of them put a leaf on the tree with what they are thankful for.
I love seeing what they come up with!
I can’t wait to see our tree full at Thanksgiving! We’ll pull all of the leaves off on Thanksgiving Day, read through each of them, and talk more about what we are thankful for. And you can bet that once Thanksgiving is over, I’ll be saving the leaves to look back on when the kids are older.
