And my how she has changed!

We are seeing more and more of her little personality.  And our favorite?  Smiles!

Evelyn’s two month well-baby check wasn’t scheduled until Thursday, but I had to switch it to today.  Her reflux medicine has helped her spitting up a bit, but I had been noticing that her face had been breaking out in a little rash after nursing the past few days.  And last night was the worst that it had been.

Trenton and Charlotte were both allergic to cow’s milk, so I had cut out big ticket dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, cream, etc) since Evelyn was born.  But I thought that Evelyn’s rash looked like an allergic reaction.

Today’s appointment confirmed what I thought.  In addition to the rash, Evelyn has also had mucus in her stool, and testing at the doctors office showed microscopic blood in her stool too.  All of that paired with the fact that Evelyn has dropped off of her growth curve, led to the decision to start Evelyn on hypoallergenic formula.  The doctor didn’t want to take time changing my diet to try to find out what Evelyn is allergic to since we need her to start growing.  I’ll keep pumping for now to keep my supply up so that I can go back to breastfeeding if the formula doesn’t help the problem.  We go back on Monday for a follow-up.

Evelyn was pretty cranky this afternoon after getting three shots this morning, but has been a little happier tonight.  She of course didn’t like getting shots, but she didn’t scream nearly as much as I thought she would.

Weight: 9 pounds, 4 ounces (25th percentile – down from the 45th last month)
Height: 21 1/4 inches (This was taken after the rest of the appointment, so I didn’t see the doctor again to get the percentile.  I’ll ask on Monday at our follow-up.)
Eating: Every 3-4 hours both day and night.  We’ll see how if that changes now that she’s on formula.
Sleeping: Most nights Evelyn will eat and go right back to sleep.  Sometimes giving me close to 4 straight hours of sleep at a time!  Other nights aren’t so good, but we’re definitely doing better than last month!

Clothes: 0-3 months

Hopefully next month’s update will be less about medical issues and more about cuteness and milestones!

Poor thing! I hope the formula solves her issues and you can get back to breastfeeding! Are Charlotte and Trenton still allergic to dairy or was it just a newborn sensitivity? Hope she gets over it quickly. In other news, she is as cute as can be with that big smile! :)

Oh gosh... Poor little thing. I hope the formula really helps and she starts growing like a weed and no more rashes/allergic reactions for that sweetie!
