A Kidless Date

Yesterday Jarrod and I went out on a date without kids for the first time in 5 1/2 months.  Since Evelyn was born, we’ve gotten babysitters for the older two kids, but we’ve always taken Evelyn along with us on dates.

Last night we took the plunge and left Evelyn with a babysitter for the first time.  Our old babysitter was home from the Air Force Academy for a few weeks, and she brought along her younger sister for help.

I kept checking my phone throughout the evening, but I never got any texts.  And when we got home Evelyn was asleep in her bed, and the sitters said all three kids did great!

Jarrod and I had a great time too.

We started off down at Cannery Row to hit up a couple wine tasting rooms.  We were planning on keeping our memberships and having our wine shipped to us once a quarter.  But apparently Pennsylvania doesn’t allow wine to be shipped into the state.  We thought about buying a case and just having it packed into our household goods shipment, but we figured that might not be such a good idea in the middle of the summer since we don’t know where the moving truck will go before it delivers our stuff.  Then my friend Kate came to the rescue.  We are having a case shipped to her in Virginia, and we’ll grab it from her later this summer after we get settled in.  You are awesome, Kate!

After wine tasting, we drove down to Pebble Beach to have apps and drinks at Roy’s Patio Bar.  But this guy was the main attraction for the evening.

The bagpiper plays every evening at sunset, and seeing him before we moved was on my bucket list.

The view was amazing, the music was nice, the food and drinks were delicious, and the people we met at our fire pit were great.

Our next stop was dinner in Carmel-by-the-Sea.  My dad’s cousin and his wife moved to Carmel a few months ago, so we met them at a restaurant.  The food and company were fabulous.  It was so nice eating with familiar faces across the table from us.

So now that we’ve taken the plunge leaving Evelyn with a babysitter, we need to get started planning our next date!

First of all, that pink drink looks AMAZING! I'm glad you were able to go out and have a nice time!I've always worried about having to get a sitter for three kids. We should probably take advantage now. Especially since like you, we probably won't be going anywhere until baby is a little older.
