We Won’t Be Winning Yard of the Month

Do you remember when my parents helped me make-over our backyard?

I loved it!

But then the gophers came.

Housing will take care of pests inside the house but not outside.  I got rid of the gophers, but then a few months later they were back again.  The gophers hung out a few months, left, and then came back again.  Over and over and over and over this has happened.

I have overseeded.  I have watered.  I have done everything I could to try to keep the lawn looking nice.

And now I have given up.

Trenton and Charlotte have come up with their own idea for the gopher holes.

Mini compost piles.

They have stuffed the holes up with banana peels, apple cores, bread crusts, and more.

It ticks the pesky little gophers off, and my kids enjoy watching stuff decomposing.  I’d say it’s a win-win.  You know, other than my lawn looking like poo.  But hey – we only have eleven-ish days left in the house.

Now please tell me that there are no gophers in Pennsylvania….

We had this problem in our yard in VA.. but it wasn't really a battle I wanted to fight.. So I just.. didn't.

This post would make Kev happy. He hated our yard in Monterey so much!

Haha.. Our grass is pretty similar.. with no gophers. Our front yard is a weedy jungle. The backyard is a an overgrown jungle.
