Since this area of Pennsylvania had trick or treating on Thursday (click HERE if you missed the kids in their costumes), we were left with no plans for Halloween night.
We made a last minute decision to drive out to Hershey for the evening.
Our first stop was Hershey’s Chocolate World. Charlotte and I took the “chocolate ride,” while Jarrod, Trenton, and Evelyn made their own chocolate bars.
We then made our way over to Hersheypark. It was a good night to be at the park. There were virtually no lines on any of the rides (at least the ones that the kids wanted to ride). And although it was cold outside, we layered up pretty good, so we weren’t uncomfortable.
ZooAmerica is right next to Hersheypark and there is a covered walkway between the parks. And it’s free with admission to Hersheypark! So we made a trip there for Halloween Creatures of the Night.
There were no outside lights on in the zoo, so we had to use our flashlights to find the animals. We went to a program to learn animal facts and myths where we saw a tarantula, albino skunk, porcupine, great horned owl, and a gopher snake. Charlotte was excited that the tarantula and her shared the same name. The reptile house, where we got to touch reptiles, was a big hit too. Trenton thought it was cool that he was older than the alligator.
It was then back to Hersheypark for a few more rides before calling it a night.
The chocolate capital and Halloween went hand in hand. We may have to make this a new Halloween tradition (at least for the next couple years while we’re here!).
